Guerra do Vietname – a cantiga como arma

Em El País de hoje, pode ler-se um interessante artigo sobre o papel da música rock no protesto contra a guerra do Vietname. Mais concretamente, recordam-se «dez hinos», uns mais conhecidos do que outros, que corporizaram esse protesto e se transformaram em verdadeira forma de luta.

Mais: foi há meio século, a partir de 1964 e sobretudo nos Estados Unidos, que o «rock de causas» nasceu, precisamente com a guerra do Vietname em pano de fundo, para explodir na segunda metade dessa década como bandeira do movimento hippy. «Nunca como há 50 anos se pensou que a música podia não só parar uma guerra como começar a mudar o mundo» – bem verdade, até em Portugal (em meios muito restritos, é certo).
